| 5th Annual Operation: Jellybeans To Heroes Unseen "SI Yellow Ribbon" Easter Project 2008 |
| Press Release: 5th Annual "Operation: Jellybeans To Heroes Unseen" Kicks Off After another successful Valentine's Day Campaign in which literally thousands of homemade Valentines were received from kids all over the country and sent along with a box of goodies to overseas soldiers through "SI Yellow Ribbon", the Easter season has now officially began for the volunteer group as they kick off their fifth annual "Operation: Jellybeans To Heroes Unseen". Organizers of this project are asking that all items for the Easter boxes be turned in by Monday March 3rd to insure that organizers can sort, pack and mail the packages so they can be delivered to the troops in time for this special holiday. With Easter being in March this year, it is important that collections start immediately. "Yellow Ribbon" asks that schools, churches, Boy or Girl Scouts, 4-Her's, civic groups, businesses or individuals get involved now collecting Easter items. They are specifically asking for the following things: cartons of marshmallow eggs, boxes of Peeps, bags of jellybeans, milk chocolate bunnies, bags of Easter candy and homemade Easter cards. As always, monetary donations or new postage stamps (any denomination) are greatly needed to use for the high cost of postage. For more information on how you can help "SI Yellow Ribbon" who has been in existence since March of 2003 and has already successfully been able to send to thousands of soldiers, please go to the groups website at www.siyellowribbon.com, call (618) 926-1299 or email siyellowribbon@onemain.com or make an appointment to bring items to their headquarters located at 315 East Poplar Street in Harrisburg, Illinois. The group also has several drop-off points in Southern Illinois, complete details on those can be found on their website. "Operation: Jellybeans to Heroes Unseen" is an excellent opportunity for anyone to show support to our troops during Easter which may be the first holiday for some so far away from family and friends. Although there have been many servicemen and women fortunate enough to return home from a long deployment in recent months, there are still thousands still serving and for those it is asked that you continue to fly the flag proudly and keep those yellow bows up. The organization also sells a variety of yellow ribbon and military support items with the proceeds of sales going to postage. Support may be the only way we have to help the brave men and women but that support can be shown in a big way if more and more become interested in helping. Easter is a prime time to boost morale and let our soldiers know that "Some Bunny" loves and supports them! |
