Since August and September is “Back to School” months, the coordinators of “SI Yellow Ribbon”, a non-profit, voluntary organization devoted to sending care packages to deployed military, are trying to “educate” the public about their own set of ABC’s of needs and “wants” they could use to continue to send to the thousands of brave men and women they have assisted since they began in March of 2003.
Now that vacations and summer fun is over for many, it is now time to get down to the task of organizing item drives, postage fund drives and fundraisers in the schools and colleges going back in session, the clubs that suspended during the summer months and to churches, business places, etc.
“SI Yellow Ribbon’s” ABC list includes:
We Need Your Help With Our August/September Project!
Back To School & Time To Learn The ABC's of
"SI Yellow Ribbon"
Also, a reminder that it is not too early to organize “Christmas” drives as mailings for that is just around the corner.  “Gift” items for that are requested such as boxed games, boxed candy, scented lotions, handheld games, DVD’s, CD’s, underwear, phone cards, etc. that can be gift wrapped as presents.
For further info check out the organization’s website at www.siyellowribbon.com, call 618-252-7721 or 618-926-1299 or stop by their headquarters at 315 East Poplar, Harrisburg from 1-3 pm Monday-Friday (or by appointment).
Also, ribbon car magnets and other “support” items are offered through the website or at the headquarters as a fundraiser for postage for the care packages.
