HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY
"SI Yellow Ribbon"
March 19, 2004
In honor of our first birthday "Wes and April in the Morning" on "W3D Today's Country 107.3" on Friday March 19, 2004 dedicated their morning program (5:30 am to 10:00 am) to the troops still overseas.  They played good Country hits and let callers phone in to the station to state their greeting or wish to the troops overseas.  The show was taped and copies are going to be sent to all of our soldiers we currently ship to.  They've all been requesting "good music" and saying they miss radio from back home.  THANK YOU Wes & April and to all the listeners for helping show them that even 1 year later Southern Illinois still cares!!!

MESSAGE FROM THE CO-COORDINATORS:
SI Yellow Ribbon was launched by our family on March 19, 2003 -  which although not planned we kicked off our Campaign the day the war was declared on Iraq by President Bush.   It's been a year filled with an array of emotion, ups and downs, smiles and a variety of struggles to keep the support alive by the public.   What started as a "Southern Illinois" Campaign has over the course of the last year turned into a Campaign for ALL soldiers, originally from East to West Coast that are serving in foreign locations.  What began as our small family operation, one year later still remains our small family running every aspect of this Operation, which has nearly turned into a full- time "job" that has reached out to thousands of soldiers over the past year through care packages, cards, letters, etc..  SI Yellow Ribbon remains a volunteer, non profit organization that grows daily and will continue as long as there are deployed who need us.  We cannot put into the words what the last year has meant to each of us and we look forward to another year of bringing smiles to those so far from home, filling needs and wants to all those we touch and uplifting morale of those who are down and could use a warm letter from "home".  We pack every box that leaves our headquarters with a lot of love and care and even though we are just a small family in a small town, we are hoping to make a BIG difference in the lives we touch.  As we embark on another year, please keep our Campaign as well as our family in your prayers and continue to think of our brave soldiers serving abroad and pray for their quick and safe return to the states.  With YOUR help you've made our "1st Birthday" possible....   Thank you!!!
