| Do you have a family member or friend you would like to receive care packages, letters and cards from "SI Yellow Ribbon"? Are you a soldier or know another soldier who would like to be added to our list for packages and words of encouragement? WE WANT TO HELP! |
| When we started our campaign in March of 2003, we originally formed to send cards, packages and letters to our local "Southern Illinois" soldiers, thus the naming of our Campaign - "SI" Yellow Ribbon Campaign. However, as we grew many local soldiers turned in names of soldiers in their unit from other places and then those soldiers did the same and so on and so on.... Eventually, we had built up quite a database of soldiers from across the Country, especially after we went National with media coverage. Even though our name remains the same, we vow to send to soldiers from anywhere at all where there is a need or someone needs a lift. Every package we send out has a particular soldiers name and we have never solicited names. All soldiers we send to, their names and information have submitted by someone or it was requested for us to send to them. We've had many people ask about "adopting" soldiers or getting the addresses of soldiers to write. Since we started the campaign we have vowed to the soldiers and their families that we would not release their addresses to the public. There are outlets out there that do give out names and addresses, but we've kept our commitment to not do this. (CLICK HERE to read about DOD mail policy and how that effects our Campaign) Still, many have wanted to send items, letters or cards and we've offered to send them in our boxes to units, for them along with their return address. Then its up to the individual soldier if they want to contact them back personally. We've had several individuals, churches and groups become wonderful writing pals with soldiers through this way though. We hope you will understand our stand, as not everyone uses the addresses in the way they should and have abused the system. If you are interested in sending correspondence to a soldier, feel free to send to us and we will see it arrives over to a unit. A kind letter, drawing from a child or just simply some words of encouragement mean so very much to the soldiers. There are absolutely no fees, requirements or commitments to our services. Our family is completely volunteer and all packages sent out are from drives and donations from the public. We just want to give back a little to those brave soldiers fighting for our freedom! We send to soldiers stationed anywhere overseas or anywhere there is a need or want. We would love for you to submit your loved ones name and address to us so we can add them to our database to start receiving cards, packages and letters. If you know any of their needs or maybe just "favorites", we would love to know that as well. With their first initial package they will receive a questionnaire to fill out and return to us asking about their needs, needs or wants within their unit, favorite snacks, magazines, etc. and from that point on we customize each package going out to that particular soldier. If you are a deployed soldier, drop us a line, we would love to brighten your day with some mail!!!
