Valentines Day Press Release

Fifth Annual
Operation “You Have Our Hearts"
For Deployed Military Begins

“SI Yellow Ribbon” located out of Harrisburg, Illinois but serving the needs of overseas military and their families from all over the country, has kicked off its next annual campaign for Valentine’s Day, their fifth annual Operation “You Have Our Hearts".
Just recently concluding their Christmas project "Holiday Hugs To Our Heroes", thoughts now turn to the next National Holiday with deadlines for item donations and valentines slated for January 21st, 2008.
With the whole theme centered about “hearts” it is asked that individuals, organizations, schools, churches, clubs, families etc. donate the following items:  heart suckers, boxes or bags of conversation hearts, small heart shaped boxes of chocolates, bags of valentines candy and of course valentines, especially handmade ones.
Schools, Sunday School classes and youth groups all over are urged to take time to make special homemade heart valentines and send them to “SI Yellow Ribbon” to be included in the boxes. Old fashioned handmade ones decorated with lace or glitter with special notes or messages are encouraged and would make a nice project for any classroom or youth group. Older children could paint pictures or write letters.
For more information on the project check out the “SI Yellow Ribbon” website at www.siyellowribbon.com, email co-coordinator Amy at siyellowribbon@onemain.com or call 618-926-1299.  Item donations, valentines or monetary donations which are especially vital to pay for postage to mail the boxes towards this project or towards upcoming cards, letters and care packages being sent can still be dropped off at their headquarters by appointment only at 315 East Poplar Street, Harrisburg, IL or sending to “SI Yellow Ribbon”, PO Box 602, Harrisburg, IL 62946.  They also have other drop off points in Southern Illinois and the list can be found on their website.
Another helpful suggestion instead of cash for postage is to hold postage drives in which stamps can be used on the boxes.  Past stamp drives have been very successful and is as good as money when it comes to mailing packages.  Any denomination of unused postage stamps are welcomed by the Campaign.
The public is asked to please “Have a Heart and give a Heart to a Brave Heroic Heart”. It would be great to send thousands and thousands of very special valentines to show our military we still care in 2008 after the season of giving at Christmas is over.
Since Christmas and Valentines Day's deadlines for mailing are so close together, all are asked to take note of the deadline of January 21, 2008 which is approaching quickly!
Fifth Annual Operation
"
You Have Our Hearts"....
"SI Yellow Ribbon" Valentines Day Project 2008
www.siyellowribbon.com
We have launched our Valentine's Day project -  the Fifth Annual Operation "You Have Our Hearts"....  to gather items and homemade Valentine's for our Valentine's Day care packages and postage funds/stamps to ship them out to our brave military currently serving overseas.

We are asking for children, groups, clubs, classrooms, families, etc. to get involved in making handmade Valentines, having drives for candy and helping raise monetary funds or collect postage stamps to aid in the high cost of getting the packages overseas.   Last years project was a huge success and we had literally THOUSANDS of homemade Valentines to ship over to our soldiers!  Help us achieve those goals again this year!!!!

You can view the press release below to learn more about the project.  If you decide to participate in this please email co-coordinator Amy at
siyellowribbon@onemain.com and let her know.  Valentines can be made however you wish, but if they are in envelopes please do NOT seal them.  If you have any other questions, please feel free to email us!  We can also use Valentine's Day candy so please take note in the article what we are asking for.
